About me
Hi! My name's Catherine (they/them) and I'm an ecologist studying the impacts of climate change on forests and alpine plants. I'm grateful to have had the chance to work with collaborators on a range of projects including studying drought impacts on Common Beech (Fagus sylvatica) in the Spanish Pyrenees, Yellow-Cedar (Callitropsis nootkatensis) growth decline on Haida Gwaii (Canada) and most recently the effect of warming on species distribution change in Taiwan. In my work I use a combination of remote sensing, statistical modelling and dendrochronology.
I am passionate about promoting LGBTQIA+ visibility in the ecological sciences through my work with the British Ecological Society ALDER Network. I also work with SatSchool, an outreach programme for lower secondary school pupils to learn about Earth Observation and encourage them to continue in STEM education and careers.
